By joining the University of Central Lancashire, you’ll become part of a thriving community of talent that’s united by a shared vision – to transform the lives of our students and create prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Every colleague has a vital role to play in helping us achieve this vision.
About the role:
The School of Arts and Media is recruiting for an Associate Lecturer to provide teaching and associated duties on the Art & Design (with Foundation Year), BA (Hons) course. Duties will include contributing to achieving the school's academic objectives through teaching, acting as module leader and undertaking administrative duties relevant to module leadership (administering course registers, assessment records, learning programmes, and other records, engaging with the recruitment of students onto courses, and providing appropriate advice on progression and career opportunities).
In addition, the post will require the candidate to support recruitment activities that will lead to travel opportunities and require someone with a passion for their subject area and strong presentation and communication skills. Like all staff in the arts you would be expected to get involved in the development of industry contacts and potential employers and other external organisations to develop the course’s employability potential and reputation.
About you:
The successful candidate will have teaching experience in a higher education environment and a good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant area. In addition, you should be IT literate and be able to record student attendance, upload the necessary coursework to the university network, and contact students through digital channels. You should also have relevant Industry practice experience. The role requires the flexibility to provide teaching and support when necessary (during occasional periods of sickness cover and delivery of collaborative projects) across Design. Finally, you would be expected to be involved in recruiting new students at outreach events.
Applicants must meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
What we can offer you:
Our people are our most important asset. We’ll encourage you to make the most of your talents and continually develop your skills and knowledge. As well as realising your career ambitions, you’ll be making a positive difference to other people’s lives. We also offer a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform.
We are proud to be a diverse, multicultural university. We are committed to building a truly inclusive culture where diversity is championed. Applications are particularly welcomed from individuals who will support the diversification within the University and support its development of a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all.
