Job details
Are you an inspirational and motivational educational leader?
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to lead the way in modern learning and deliver successful student outcomes and experiences?
If you are, we’d love to hear from you
The opportunity
The University of Central Lancashire’s School of Nursing and Midwifery has a proud history of delivering an outstanding education to all our learners, embracing innovative curriculum design, informed by a growing body of pedagogic research, and a strong track record of research success. We’ve recently developed and launched a new, creative curriculum, supported by significant investment in clinical skills facilities across campuses, and the development of some outstanding simulated clinical placements.
Working with the Dean, as part of the School Leadership Team, the Associate Dean will contribute to the School's and University’s vision and strategy, helping us deliver an outstanding student experience, grow our income, shape our new educational offer to our learners, foster a supportive and empowering culture for colleagues, and improve student outcome and experience metrics.
You will work closely with the PVC Students and Teaching, other Associate Deans and Professional Services colleagues to retain an oversight of the University’s Students and Teaching strategies, contributing to the next TEF.
About us
The University of Central Lancashire is an international, multi-campus Institution and is one of the UK’s largest universities with a staff and student community approaching 39,000. Our employment-focused course portfolio, with over 350 undergraduate programmes, nearly 200+ postgraduate courses, and a rich array of CPD courses means that students enjoy a first-class experience underpinned by research. Our current Strategic Plan runs until 2028 to mark the University’s 200th anniversary and seeks to “transform lives by delivering an outstanding educational experience and creating prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve”.
The School of Nursing and Midwifery is home to more than 4000 students across a range of undergraduate and post graduate courses and 190 staff, studying and working across four campuses at Preston, Burnley, Westlakes and London.
We are proud that our students value their experience whilst studying with us and to have been rated No 1 in the country in the 2024 NSS survey for Midwifery.
We provide a wide offer to our students, both full-time learning and through non-traditional routes via a range of CPD and PGT courses aimed largely at professionals working in healthcare, Foundation Year in Health and Social Care, Assistant Practitioner with pathways into a range of AHP professions and Trainee Nurse Associate routes (all of which provide awards at level five) and five courses that offer apprenticeship pathways.
The School has an inclusive and supportive culture with great emphasis on team building, opportunity, and success.
