English language requirements

Entry Requirements

UCLan Programme Minimum Entry Qualification Minimum English Language requirements
Undergraduate – Year 0 - 72 tariff points       Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate (COHSC) / GCE A level
4 Highers and 3 Ordinary grades at 40% or above
Standard English language entry requirements - IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
Undergraduate - Year 1 entry
112 tariff points
Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate (COHSC) / GCE A level
4 Highers and 3 Ordinary grades at 55% or above
Standard English language entry requirements -IELTS 6.0 or equivalent
Masters Four year bachelor’s honours degree 60% (GPA – 2, Grade C or 60-69%) equivalent to a UK 2:2 Standard English language entry requirements – IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

If your academic and/or English language qualifications are not sufficient to allow for direct entry to one of our undergraduate or postgraduate taught programmes, you may wish to consider one of our Undergraduate or Master Foundation Programmes, offered at UCLan by ONCampus. Successful completion of this programme can guarantee entry to a wide range of programmes at UCLan.

The University of Central Lancashire has a wide range of Scholarships and Bursaries available for international students. Below are the criteria for the award of the Merit and Excellence Scholarship.

  Undergraduate Postgraduate Taught
Merit Scholarship criteria 60% or higher in HSC 65% or above in bachelor degree
Excellence Scholarship criteria 70% or higher in HSC 70% or above in bachelor degree

Please note that these scholarships are not available for MBBS programme; distance learning programmes, Pre-Sessional Programmes or Postgraduate Research Programmes.
