The Worldwise Learning Centre offers support, training and professional development for students, staff, members of the public, and the business community in the North West of England.
We welcome all those aspiring to enhance their cross-cultural awareness and intercultural or linguistic communication skills for the advancement of academic studies, or professional careers in multicultural and multilingual settings.
Located on the first floor of Adelphi Building, the Centre offers extensive resources relating to world languages, cultures and intercultural communication, including reference books, DVDs, dictionaries, specific country files and other materials, available both in print and electronically. It also provides a space in which to meet and make friends with speakers of different languages in a friendly environment.
We also run activities to support those with an interest in world languages and cultures including culture and language celebration events, shows and exhibitions, events for local schools and guest talks.
Learn a language in your own time and at your own page with Rosetta Stone language software. Each language level consists of up to 40 hours of self-study material made up of a series of exercises focusing on key skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening and grammar. The programme also includes regular sessions with a native-speaking language assistant during term-time and support from the Worldwise team.
The course is not formally assessed but upon completion of each level you will be given an achievement certificate and a report detailing your progress. You can register for this programme at any time during the year.
