Saluting our sisters: A fight to protect people and planet.
Come and celebrate the inspirational Black women worldwide who combat climate injustice and help the fight to secure our future.
Saluting our Sisters in the fight to protect people and planet will focus on inspirational black women across the globe who have stood up and fought against the social injustice caused by the impacts of the climate emergency. From Vanessa Nakate in Uganda to Helena Gualinga in Ecuador, this lecture will recognise the increasingly vital role these women have in protecting our planet, shaping history, inspiring change and building communities. By standing up and saying: #WEMATTER, these women aim to secure our future in an unstable and volatile political and ecological climate.
We welcome students, staff, and the wider community to join this empowering event led by Bob Walley, lecturer for MA International Social Work and Community Development, and BA Community Leadership.
