Drawing on findings from community research conducted over 10 years in low-income coastal communities, this talk will briefly introduce the biopsychosocial impacts of poverty on health outcomes.

It will describe the ways in which healthcare professionals can respond to the nuances of families experiencing poverty and summarise the work of the West Cumbria Child Poverty Forum (WCCPF).
