Using anecdotal material from his career, Simon will take his audience into the world of remote mountaineering. Simon discusses the risk assessments involved in operating in extreme environments and making calls during medical and crisis events. Illustrated with stunning mountain images.

‘The medical support for a once in a lifetime discovery.’
Dr Lucy Coulter was the expedition doctor for Endurance22. The expedition in 2022 to Antarctica to search for the Endurance, Shackleton’s famous lost shipwreck. Lucy will describe her experience on the successful expedition, in a time when the world was beginning to open back up after the Covid pandemic.

Internationally acclaimed mountaineer Simon Yates is a veteran of over seventy expeditions to high and remote mountains.

Tim was commissioned in 1983 and trained at Westminster Medical School, qualifying with distinction in 1986.

Jim Cox is a retired, rural Cumbria GP and medical director of Cumbria Ambulance Service.

James Hickman is a Somerset GP and accredited Consultant in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine.

Andrea is a pharmacist with international experience in community and hospital pharmacy, management consultancy, pharmaceutical industry.

Liz is a senior lecturer in medical education at Lancaster Medical School.

Dr Lucy Coulter is an Emergency Medicine Consultant based in Dorset, with a special interest in remote and pre-hospital medicine.

Shoba is a UK GP with specialist interest in global health. Having lived and worked across 8 countries she has considerable knowledge of global healthcare systems with expertise in travel health, tropical medicine, aviation medicine and occupational health.

Dr Tim Sanders is a rural GP based in North East Cumbria and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the UCLan National Centre for Remote and Rural Medicine.

John is Professor of Primary Care with UCLan. A GP with a Fellowship in Public Health he spent his early career working in 13 conflict zones.

Jeremy Windsor is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Mountain Medicine at UCLan and a Consultant in Anaesthetics and Critical Care at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Louise is Professor in Health Services Research at the University of Aberdeen.

Kate is Professor/Honorary Consultant at UCLan/Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
She is experienced in the recognition and management of emergency and acute facial and dental conditions. She is Postgraduate Lead for Dental Programmes and teaches/supervises MSc Oral Surgery students.

Rupal is an optometrist working in academic and community optometry settings.
