This June, The Festival of Humanities and World Cultures is returning for a community celebration of history, literature, languages and world cultures.

We will explore how the study of humanities and world culture brings us together and shapes our world.

Everyone is invited to get hands on with a wide-range of family-friendly, interactive activities throughout the day.

  • Dive into the art of Chinese Calligraphy and explore the rich history and tradition behind each stroke.
  • Discover the history of Preston's Caribbean Carnival and 900 years of Lancashire's history with Lancashire Archives.
  • What would your middle name be in Russia? Find out as you explore the beauty and peculiarities of the Russian language.
  • Can you make a robot a better "person"?
  • Join in family-friendly language activities and games from around the world.
  • Decipher Anglo-Saxon runes and challenge yourself with linguistic word puzzles - Investigate the logos, symbols and coat of arms from UCLan's history and have a go at designing your own.
