Job summary

You'll develop into an engineer who can apply basic engineering concepts and mechanical processes and use them to design new devices and systems.

Engineers need good problem-solving skills, taking scientific principles and discoveries and using them to design and build useful products. You’ll learn how to systematically apply those principles in order to solve unpredictable, real-world engineering problems.

You’ll be equipped with the skills and expertise needed to design, analyse and optimise mechanical systems.

Full job description

  • Setting up milling machines and positioning workpieces
  • Selecting and running programs
  • Monitoring the machining process
  • Checking that finished workpieces meet all specified dimensions and tolerances
  • Performing routine maintenance on milling machines and tools
