Perioperative Care (Anaesthetic)

Many graduates of the course are team leaders within theatres. Some progress onto BSc study.

Mike Donnellon: Particular interest in Anaesthesia and Airway Management and he has published and presented in this area His research is leadership and management in the perioperative environment. He is the chair of the CODP Education and Standards Committee and is a registered ODP with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Elaine Hill: Particular interests are Human Factors and Simulation.She is a registered ODP with the Health and Care Professions Council and a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Mike Huntington: Particular interest in Patient Safety within the perioperative environment. He Is a registered ODP with the Health and Care Professions Council. He is a member of the Association for Perioperative Practice.

Guy Mcclelland: Particular interest and research in Human Factors and Non-Technical Skills in the perioperative environment. He Is a registered ODP with the Health and Care Professions Council. He is a member of CODP and the Association for Perioperative Practice.

Assessment

Modules are assessed in both theory and practice. Theory assessment is by written assignments, presentations, oral viva and examinations.  Clinical practice where applicable, will be assessed through a clinical competency schedule, all assessed elements must achieve a pass grade for the module to be successfully completed. For theoretical assignments the pass grade is 40%, all theoretical assessments are marked and moderated in accordance with the School theoretical marking criteria. Practice assessments receive a PASS or REFER statement dependent upon achievement of the assessment criteria.
