Specialist On-Going Care Approaches (Cardiac, Cardiothoracic, Renal, Neuroscience)

The module is delivered at the Preston campus during semesters 1 & 2. There are 9 study days in total and these are scheduled to take place on Tuesday's of non-consecutive weeks. Each study day is delivered as follows: a 2 hour session core session which sets to explore key generic concepts relevant to all specialist pathways. These key concepts are then subject to specialist exploration in a 3 hour teaching session which is linked to the students area of practice.

This module will provide shared learning opportunities for a range of health care practitioners via generic core theme teaching. Students will also be provided with bespoke subject specialty teaching and learning opportunities in the subject specialty areas of Cardiac, Cardiothoracic, Neuroscience or Renal care. Students will examine important aspects of care delivery via the analysis of the patient’s journey through the health care system.

Blended learning techniques will be utilised and a range of teaching methods will be employed to enhance student engagement.

Patchwork text assessment methods will be employed utilising both formative and summative assessment methods in order to provide students every opportunity to create, develop and produce a meaningful and insightful portfolio which critically examines all aspects of a patient’s journey through and with specific on-going health conditions.
