Course overview

The module will review key concepts which relate to the successful management of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

These will include analysis of the epidemiological factors associated with AKI, a review of the normal functioning of the renal system which will be utilised to inform the exploration of the pathophysiology of AKI. This will support the practitioner in critically analysing the assessment and management of patients presenting with symptoms of AKI and is in accordance with current policy guidance from the National Institute of Health & Clinical Excellence.

Entry requirements

All applicants must:

  • Be registered health professionals
  • Be currently working in a renal specialist area of practice
  • Have studied to level 6 before
  • Have six months of work experience in a renal specialist area of practice
  • Be qualified for at least 2 years
  • Have the support of their manager in practice
  • Be able to demonstrate engagement throughout studies to the course leader
