Bandaging the lower leg for leg ulcer and oedema management is a recommended frontline treatment in the community. However, the toes are often left out of the standard training techniques and can result in further problems to the patients.  This Master Class will address the research, rationale and technique of toe bandaging.

You should attend if you are:

  • A Community/District nurses
  • A Practice Nurse
  • A Lymphoedema Support/keyworker
  • Nursing and Residential Home nursing staff

Justine Whitaker

As Senior Lecturer and Clinician, within the School of Health Sciences, UCLan, Justine provides education at the offering a level 6 Advanced Certificate for health professionals nationally, in Lymphoedema Management. Justine is currently active in Research within the School of Health Sciences looking into tissue oxygen levels within lymphoedema.

Learning outcome & aims

By the end of the workshops participants will:

- Be aware of current practice & guidelines in Toe Bandage
- Understand the vascular & lymphatic physiology of the Toes
- Give appropriate rationale to undertake Toe Bandaging
- Be able to apply a Toe Bandage as part of lower leg management
