Why study this course?

When considering a specialist discipline of study at HE level in the Arts, the decision can be difficult. This Foundation Degree contains the same level of taught material as the first two years of a Textiles or Fashion Degree, but allows students on this course to absorb and synthesise from three separate, yet ever-connected subject areas in the same two year course of study.  Upon graduation, students should be in a clear mind as to which of the three subject areas (Fashion Design / Fashion Promotion / Textile Design) they aim to pursue for creation of final Degree projects.  Alternatively, those graduates will have a new professional outlook on a world of art and design, and should be confident when talking to those in an industry environment, of their honed abilities following graduation from this Foundation Degree.

For changes to 2017 UCAS tariff entry requirements please see our important information. UCLan requires all undergraduate applicants to have a minimum attainment of five GCSEs at grade C and above, or equivalent, (including Maths and English). In 2017 and beyond we will view the new Grade 4 as being equivalent to a C grade and will therefore require students to achieve GCSE Grade 4 or above. However, if the subject is relevant to our degree programme and requires a higher GCSE grade (e.g. GCSE B grade), and/or includes a Professional body that governs the entry requirements, Grade 5 or above may be required.
