Emotional intelligence is recognised as having the ability to monitor our own other people’s feelings and to use this knowledge to guide ones thinking and actions. We make decisions not only based on outcomes but also the emotional qualities associated with the decision. Emotional intelligence is a set of skills that scaffold leadership and the safe delivery of care in the NHS. Self-awareness and Self-management are personal competencies that can be developed to support you in your leadership journey. Social awareness and Relationship management are social competencies that are recognised too.

Adele brings many years of experience of working within the NHS as a Team Leader and as a Departmental Manager. Leadership has been pivotal in these roles and as a healthcare worker, she have developed and grown personally as a leader and been in a privileged position to recognise, develop and grow the leaders of the future.

- Recognise how emotional intelligence can impact on patient safety
- Understand the relationship between personal development of emotional intelligence and leadership skills.
