Digital First helps local business clean up

Challenge

Jo Butler has been running professional cleaning company Made Tidy for 18 months, having set up the business in 2017. Based in Fulwood, Jo has one employee, with whom she delivers office, end of tenancy, moving home and domestic cleaning services to clients located in and around the Samlesbury, Penwortham, Leyland and Ribbleton areas.

However, relying solely upon a company Facebook page to promote the business - which she found limiting in reaching a broad range of potential customers - Jo knew she needed a professional brand identity and a website in order to effectively grow the business and expand her client base.

Solution

Jo approached Digital First, a team of digital specialists and students from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) which helps promote and achieve growth through a range of digital tools and tactics.

Led by Daniel Livingstone, Project Manager, the Digital First ERDF team devised a six-month programme of support involving the creation of a responsive website based on a pre-defined WordPress template, to showcase details of services available to both domestic and commercial customers, while providing a background to the company and a range of client testimonials. This would give Jo a platform to direct potential customers to, strengthening her overall marketing strategy and enabling her to enhance the reputation of the business.

The team also assisted with brand identity, through the creation of a new company logo to ensure Made Tidy was instantly recognisable to its clients. The logo was then applied to designs for both an A5 flyer and business cards, providing Jo with important marketing collateral to complement the new website.

Benefits

Since receiving the support from Digital First, Jo has been able to grow the business and has gained five new clients, including office cleans and the provision of services to estate agencies. She’s now looking to expand further in 2019, by focusing on growing the commercial side of the business and building a team of staff dedicated to that specific area of service provision.

Jo Butler, Owner of Made Tidy, said: “I would 100 per cent consider working with the Digital First team in the future, they were fantastic. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services to other businesses. They were extremely professional, full of ideas and delivered great advice.

“Having a strong brand identity developed has been integral to the continued success of Made Tidy. The new website is fantastic as I can use social media to link back to it, where people can find out more information about the services we provide. It’s also useful to have flyers and business cards on hand for people who may not see the website.”
