Marketing Students Shortlisted for National Competition
UCLan Marketing students won through to the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) National Marketing Competition Final.
Congratulations go to the UCLan Marketing undergraduate student team, Georgia Smith and Callum Spavins who have been shortlisted for this year’s CIM ‘The Pitch’ Competition – the only North West University selected out of 12 national UK universities for the final. The competition will be held at CIM Head Office in Moor Hall, Cookham, Berkshire in March 2018.
The Pitch, the CIM’s nationwide marketing competition for students is designed to recognise and reward the marketing talent of the future.

Wilkinson Sword, a brand owned by Edgewell Personal Care for razors and other personal care products sold in Europe, has supplied this year’s brief.
To get to the national final, the final year undergraduate students had to prepare a 2,500 word Strategic Marketing Plan to show how Wilkinson Sword can create a step change in their recruitment of young men and women into their shaving range and build a brand of advocates. The final will involve Georgia and Callum ‘pitching’ their ideas in their marketing plan to a panel of judges, which include Wilkinson Sword, CIM, Mintel, Student Universe, UNILAD and SEGRO.
Caroline Holliday, CIM’s Course Leader in the Division of Communication, Marketing and Public Relations at the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise, said: “Well done Callum and Georgia on being selected for this prestigious final of this competition. This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase your marketing talent in front of leading marketing experts. Not only will this look good on your CVs but also, give you exposure to industry professionals which will enhance your employability in a competitive market place for graduates. As a Graduate Gateway University UCLan is proud to be associated with this prestigious competition and we wish you the best of luck at the final.”
Caroline will be accompanying Georgia and Callum to the final as their CIM ‘Pitch’ tutor and would like to thank the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise for supporting her and the students with their travel and accommodation to Maidenhead.
