Alimotu Sodiq's MPharm journey so far

Third-year (MPharm) Pharmacy Student

UCLan was appealing to me as the University was more convenient than other universities in terms of being close to home. I live in Manchester meaning I can travel home at the weekends and out of term time. On top of this, the close student environment and all of the buildings situated on campus suited me personally.

I settled in easily to (MPharm) Pharmacy course at UCLan as the lecturers are very friendly and you feel as though you can ask them anything, especially at the beginning. Being an MPharm buddy has been a great experience for me, interacting with other students and helping out at events such as the MPharm Career Fairs has been good fun, I am also a Student Ambassador which is great as I get to be a representative and voice for students.

My favourite aspect of the course has been dealing with real life patients from the beginning, patient contact at UCLan is great and cannot be undervalued - it’s a real valuable experience taught here. The range of techniques that I’ve learnt on the course have made me a lot more confident, especially in consultation skills. In addition to this, the placement modules offered to students on the course have given me the opportunity to put my new skillset into practice.

The tutors at UCLan are all friendly and approachable and the learning materials make everything understandable for the students!

During my time on the course, my eyes have been opened to general Pharmacy, especially in terms of all the different variables that go into actually working in a professional environment. Being on placement has been the biggest lesson that I’ve learnt throughout my time at UCLan.
