REF 2021 submission
The REF2021 institutional submission for the University of Central Lancashire has now been sent to Research England. Pulling this together has been a huge team effort, especially during a pandemic, but colleagues have, as always, risen to the challenge.
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is a government assessment of our research, overseen by Research England. It assesses the quality of UK research in universities, providing accountability for public funding for research and informing future funding allocation of £1 billion per year nationally.
We are committed to producing research that is relevant to the real world. Many of our researchers are world-leading experts whose work is transforming lives globally. Our research is contributing towards UN Sustainability Goals and two-thirds of our REF2021 Impact Case Studies involve countries receiving Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding or UK areas ranking in the 25% most deprived nationally.
The results of REF2021 are expected in Spring 2022. In the meantime we will be showcasing on our website some of the great work that has been produced, celebrating the range of impacts the University’s researchers have on society, the economy, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment and quality of life, beyond academia.
