As you are probably aware there are new data protection laws being introduced so we are just checking that you are happy for us to continue to contact you. At UCLan, we really value our relationship with you and want to let you know that we are here for you when you need us; whether that be for careers guidance, for business start-up support and advice, if you want to use UCLan’s facilities or if you just want to stay in touch. Our Alumni are a key part of the UCLan community.

Keeping in touch with you is really important to us. As one of our alumni, you are part of a global UCLan family of some 180,000 people and we hope that you value this relationship in the same way as we do.

We want to ensure that we only contact you through your preferred channels so we’re asking you to take just a few minutes of your time to update your communication contact preferences with us. To help you in this decision, here is a little information about why we use each contact method:

Email - This is our preferred channel of communication with you. It’s quick, easy and cost effective for us to stay in touch this way, so if you change your email address then please let us know. We will send you regular newsletters, e-magazines, information about postgraduate and professional development opportunities, as well as anything else we feel will be a benefit to you. For example, invitations to exclusive Alumni events, networking and our popular events such as the Lancashire Science Festival.

Post - We occasionally send event invitations and information about our services and we may also use this method of contact when seeking your views on developments at the University.

Telephone - We may contact you by telephone occasionally. For example, we may follow-up on a query or conversation with you or we may contact you with regards to a personal or professional achievement.

SMS - We may occasionally send you text messages such as event reminders or booking confirmations.

If we do not receive your opt-in preferences by the end of July 2018 we will remove you from our e-communications mailing list. If you feel this isn't the right time for you to update your communication preferences with us, you can always choose to do this at a future date by emailing

We take your privacy seriously and you can unsubscribe from UCLan communications at any time. View our updated privacy notice.
