Dr Marena Ceballos-Rasgado
Marena is a research associate with interest in the area of Mother and Child Nutrition. Marena has experience in Mixed-methods research, systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
Since joining us, Marena has worked in different research projects aiming to improve the quality of life in rural communities in Pakistan. Including the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, period poverty, and the acceptability of Biofortified wheat among local consumers and producers. Marena has also worked in systematic reviews and meta-analysis to answer specific questions posed by the FAO-WHO expert group convened to update dietary zinc recommendations for children aged 0 to 3 years. Marena is also collaborating in some projects with the National Institute of Public Health in Mexico looking to protect parents from aggressive marketing practices used by the formula milk industry.
Marena has experience planning, conducting, writing and disseminating academic research. After finishing her studies in Nutrition in Mexico, she worked as a Dietitian for one year. She was awarded with a scholarship to study her MSc and PhD in the UK. Following her PhD, Marena work as a Research Assistant at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. She joined us in 2020, and in addition to her research activities she has assisted in the delivering of some lectures for the MSc in Dietetics.
