Lesley leads core modules taken by all first and second year students: Systems Analysis and Database Design, and The Agile Professional, which both build on communication and team working skills useful for further study and career progression. She is a first year tutor, leading on the design and planning of our first year curriculum and improving our student experience provision.
She also leads our Peer Assisted Study Scheme (PASS), by recruiting, supporting and mentoring higher year students who run group study sessions for students. Lesley is also Strategic Timetabling Lead for Computing, coordinating our provision to effectively utilise our spaces to create an engaging learning environment.
Her current research examines the student experience to establish what contributes to this area, and what factors are detrimental. Her earlier research has explored student retention, peer assessment, and gamifying the curriculum. With an extensive teaching experience in computing subjects, she also has industry and management experience.
Lesley's main interests are around student experience and engagement, and she is an active member and champion of several initiatives designed to enhance those areas. She has undertaken professional development in Safeguarding, PASS, Personal and Academic Tutoring, and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
