Zixi completed DPhil (PhD) in Oriental Studies (Oxford University 2014), and is currently a subject leader and lecturer, PhD supervisor, SFHEA/FEHA mentor, and Senior Fellow of UK Higher Education Academy. Apart from doing research, teaching, supervising, and mentoring in higher education, Zixi is also interested and experienced in translation, interpreting and consulting.
Zixi is a subject leader and lecturer, PhD supervisor, and Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, with rich experience of teaching and mentoring senior lecturers and lecturers (SFHEA and FHEA applicants) across different Schools and subject areas (Business, Law, Health Science, Sport and Wellbeing, etc). At UCLan, Zixi has delivered core modules at all levels in the programmes of BA (Hons) Modern Languages, BA Asia Pacific Studies, BA TESOL with Modern Language and BA Language for International Business. She also supervises PhD, MA and BA projects, and serves as a member of University Course Review Panel.
In 2014, Zixi completed her DPhil in Oriental Studies at the University of Oxford (with scholarship and student prize). She has gained highly competitive international and national scholarships, fellowships and research fund, and participated actively in internationally collaborative research projects, developing textual databases (XML-TEI) for Japanese and Chinese languages, exploring technology-enhanced teaching and learning in Higher Education, and doing cross-disciplinary research (linguistics, translation, education, artificial intelligence and beyond). Apart from the experience of teaching, research, mentoring and team leading, Zixi is also experienced in providing consultancy for publishers in the UK and overseas. Moreover, she holds National Accreditation Examination for Translators & Interpreters Certificate Level 1 (the highest level), with rich experiences of interpreting and translation (book of about 150,000 words published in 2011). Zixi enjoys communicating with colleagues and students especially in a multi-cultural environment. She is a member of the university staff choir, likes playing piano, Koto, violin and golf, won music and photography prizes, and contributes actively to international conferences and cultural events.
