After having major surgery, he moved abroad playing before coming back to England in the early eighties to play non-league at various clubs throughout the national pyramid. It was towards the end of his playing career when he started to show a love for coaching taking his first FA badge in 1992, by 1994 he had achieved the highest coaching award available in Europe (UEFA ‘A’).
