Claire McCausland

Senior Lecturer in Sexual and Reproductive Health

Claire joined UCLan as a Lecturer in Sexual and Reproductive Health in February 2010. She is a dual trained practitioner in Contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) care and management. Her experience includes the development and delivery of clinical, outreach and education services whilst working within GUM, HIV, Contraception, Chlamydia Screening and Outreach Services across London, Manchester and Lancashire. Claire is Course Leader for the BSc (Hons) Sexual Health Studies Course.

Claire was initiated into teaching in Higher Education as a Guest Lecturer in 2006. She became a full-time member of the Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Team at UCLan in 2010. Claire now course & module leads, teaches and support students across both the undergraduate and postgraduate sexual health curriculum, in addition to contributing to the pre and post-registration Nursing and Midwifery pathways. Claire is a qualified Dual Trained Practitioner in Contraception and STI/BBV Management. She continues to maintain her clinical skills in sexual health practice in her Link Lecturer role within the local GUM and CASH services whilst offering educational support to both Mentors and students.
