Cath is a National Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has an MSc in Applied Public Health. Cath's interests include safeguarding, parenting, attachment and brain development.
Cath is a General and Children's trained Nurse and practiced for fifteen years as a Health Visitor with a special interest in safeguarding. Cath led a parenting team that delivered evidence based programmes to families before taking a strategic parenting role at Lancashire County Council and the local NHS Trust. Cath worked with families, practitioners and service leads to develop the County wide parenting strategy. Cath rolled out evidence based training to support practitioners from multi-agencies work more effectively with families.
At the University of Central Lancashire, Cath is responsible for Health Visiting pathway and runs the MSc International Trafficking Programme. Cath has delivered the Solihull Approach training to over 5,000 practitioners and researched its impact on Young People's emotional health and wellbeing. Cath took a lead on mentorship at the University of Central Lancashire and currently oversees the delivery of Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor Preparation. Cath has spoken at national and international conferences on parenting, safeguarding and taking a strategic approach to working with parents and families.
