St Peter’s Arts Centre

St Peter’s Arts Centre, a former church building, is a versatile theatre production and events venue with an extensive stock of technical and staging equipment.

St Peter’s Arts Centre is one of our theatre venues and is primarily used to host the larger scale productions within the undergraduate Performing Arts courses. St Peter’s can be configured in different ways to suit the event being held and can accommodate an audience of up to 250 people in a conference setting or house a raked audience of approximately 80 people for a traditional end-on theatre performance. Formerly a church, the building now has listed status.

A lighting trussing matrix has been cleverly constructed over the main performance area, supported by the internal mezzanine balcony. This houses a lighting rig and PA system fitted out with a high calibre of industry standard professional grade equipment. Black wool surge drapes provide a curtained backstage area and black backdrop. There is also a 12m x 4m cyc to provide a white backdrop for lighting or video projection.

The rich resonant acoustics of the building combined with the interesting architectural design make this an impressive setting for our student productions and University events.
