This facility offers the opportunity to assess the engineering principles underlying both fluid and thermo dynamics.
The laboratory features equipment designed to facilitate the study of the various engineering principles involved in the design of both systems and structures. These include hydrology, fluid dynamics and thermo dynamics such as heat exchange, the refrigeration cycle, air flow dynamics and air conditioning.
This laboratory also offers a range of types of equipment used for assessing comfort conditions for occupants of various types of building usage. Results can then be compared to the recommended values given in the relevant Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE) guides. Conditions measured includes the following:
