BSC (HONS) STUDIO & LIVE MUSIC PRODUCTION
PARTNER INSTITUTION: SCHOOL OF SOUND RECORDING
From the moment Steven offered his dad a helping hand to set up for a Status Quo concert in August 2008, he immediately knew he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father’s career.
Steven searched online for jobs in this field and discovered an advert for an honours degree course at the School of Sound Recording. He enrolled on to the course in September 2009.
He found the course to be perfect for his career requirements, and in particular commented on two modules which have helped him greatly.
He said: “The work based learning module allowed me to work with STS Touring Productions Ltd and gain hands on experience in the career I wanted to pursue. Another module involved the designing and patenting of a product we would use in our desired career and I’m hoping the product I’m patenting will boost my future career.
“The facilities, studios and the overall atmosphere at SSR were fantastic! The tutors were so supportive and really encouraged us to achieve our very best.”
As UCLan was en-route to the School of Sound Recording from Steven’s home in Cumbria, he found it easy and convenient to drop in at Preston and use the UCLan library facilities.
Steven is currently awaiting the patent approval on his product design.
