I enrolled on the Foundation Course in 2009 and can’t credit it enough for helping me to get to where I am today. Entering the course as a mature student, I was little worried that I would be out of practice when it came to practical writing tasks and essays, but the teaching and support was incredible and through structured and helpful feedback my confidence improved ten-fold in a few short weeks.

I thoroughly loved my time on the foundation course – it equips you with all the skills you need to move on to the BA course in a small and focussed environment, and offers some amazing practical work experience. If you utilise all the advice and resources that you are given you can quickly progress; I was lucky enough to skip straight into the second year of the BA course, which is something I never imagined doing when I first started.

Since graduating, I’ve worked as a freelance writer for The Big Issue North, won an industry award and am now working as an editorial assistant at Wanderlust travel magazine – I owe so much of my success to the quality of the teaching and enriching experience that the Foundation Course provides.
