I returned to study after many years of working as an equality practitioner to gain new perspectives on social equality, and to increase my knowledge and understanding of the development and impact of social policy. The MA Social Policy at UCLan gave me the opportunity to achieve these aims, and more.
The programme modules were both highly relevant and challenging, giving me the opportunity to engage in stimulating and informative debates across a range of social policy issues. As a result I developed my critical thinking skills, expanded my knowledge base in respect of social equality and improved my research skills.
I have gained a great deal from participating in the MA programme, benefitting from the excellent quality of teaching, approachable programme staff, and making new friends. It has also provided me with a stepping stone into PhD study, fulfilling a long held ambition.
The MA Social Policy is a great course which I would recommend to anyone who has an interest in how society works, and how different perspectives influence the way that social policy is made and implemented.
