What made you decide to study at UCLan?
UCLan is my local university and offers the chance to study from home. I have always been mechanically minded, Engineering offers a deeper understanding and explanations in to areas that are often taken for granted.
What are the facilities like?
The facilities are excellent and offer a rich environment to allow you to progress with studies.
What is the teaching like?
The teaching is good, often relating back to active projects the lecturers are researching. Seeing both industry and research links with the material being taught, highlights the relevance, makes the subject far more interesting.
Have you been involved in any projects?
Yes, I designed the Juno graphene research aircraft the university has displayed at Farnborough, Birmingham and London Trade shows. I am also project managing the production of an autonomous UAS for the masters group project.
One memory that sticks out from your time at UCLan so far?
That exact moment when a full airframe had been finished and all the team were together.
Any tips to prospective students?
Work hard from the beginning, attend lectures and enjoy it! Oh and coffee, plenty of coffee.
