BA(Hons) Children, Schools and Families (Year 3)

    Harris Bursary Fund

“As a single parent to three children with limited family support I have always struggled to financially support my family. I suffer from a long term illness and cope with a specific learning difficulty but wanted to come to university to improve my career prospects and provide a more stable life for my family."

“I received £100 in food vouchers and £100 in book tokens from the Harris Bursary Fund which took a huge amount of pressure off my shoulders. Money is very tight for my family and the awards helped free up funds for other essential bills."

“Once I graduate I hope to gain a career that will make a real difference to other people’s lives and support my own family. Hopefully my achievement will also inspire my children to work towards good careers too."

Ruth’s advice

“My advice to students finding themselves in similar circumstances to my own would be to apply to the Harris Bursary Fund. They really cared about my situation and they helped me enormously.”

Ruth’s thank you

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Harris Bursary Fund for helping my family and for your continued support throughout my time at UCLan. Your help eased a lot of my financial pressure and allowed me to concentrate on my studies.”
