BA (Hons) Eastern Fashion Design
Global Threads is part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme, Stories of the World, which presents new museum exhibitions across the UK created by young people. Carolyn represented the Harris Museum and Art Gallery, one of six museums in the North West involved in the project.
Carolyn spent 10 days in Ahmedabad and Bhuj to learn new skills from residency artists at Arts Reverie as well as attending textile workshops and tour the markets, Mosques, Hindu and Jain temples in Ahmedabad as part of the Cotton Exchange Project visit.
“The whole trip provided invaluable research for my final collection which focuses on Islamic art. It was fascinating to see how cotton is made and meet local weavers and blockmakers. I was also able to source materials and have printing blocks made for my final collection.”
