Alex graduated in 2011 with a BEng (Hons) in Motorsport Engineering.
After completing his A-Levels at college he enrolled on the Motorsports Engineering course at UCLan having been impressed with the range of opportunities available to him. Alex quickly learnt that engineering and motorsport was all about solving problems and fast-paced development to tight deadlines. In order to achieve his goals he realised he would need to learn how to work in very demanding circumstances, something UCLan’s Motorsport Engineering course allowed him to experience.
Alex said: “Learning to go the extra mile was one of the most important things I learnt at UCLan.”
Since graduating Alex is working at Sahara Force India F1 as a Junior Design Engineer of Aerodynamics. He is currently working on the design and engineering of a 50% scale wind tunnel Formula 1 racing car.
Alex acknowledged that the support he received at UCLan enabled him to fulfil his career ambitions. He added: “Getting involved in both Formula Ford and Formula Student helped to develop the skills and experience that helped push me to the limits of my abilities; and with the unlimited support of the lecturers I got what I set out to achieve.”
