Each student is assigned a personal tutor for the duration of their course. The tutor is their seminar leader for all the core modules with the first year programme of study. From then on they can make appointments to discuss any concerns they may have both academic and personal.

The Counselling Service at UCLan is staffed by a team of professionally trained and experienced professionals. We offer a free, confidential service to all registered UCLan students, whatever your difficulty you are welcome and you will be treated with respect.
The staff at the University Medical Centre are able to provide students with a caring and confidential service on these and a wide range of medical matters. The medical centre is available to help whether you are feeling ill, want family planning advice, concerned about sexual health, or need information on vaccinations for a trip abroad.
If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere, advice, information or personal support, you will find them at the University’s Multi-Faith Centre. The Multi-Faith Centre exists to encourage people in the pursuit and development of their faith, and to promote understanding and respect amongst members of different faiths
The UCLan pre-school centre offers a high quality, professionally run nursery and welcomes children from aged six months – seven years and can accommodate up to 90 children on both a part-time and full-time basis.

Along with specialist workshops to help make the most of any work experience you undertake, Careers delivers a range of modules to help make you stand out in today’s competitive market.
The M and M Peer Mentoring Service, (or M and M for short) is UCLan’s centralised mentoring service. We organise 1:1 and e-mentoring support, advice and guidance for students. Students can register for a mentor either before they arrive or when they get here.
The Flying Start Programme offers FREE events for new students over the summer. At UCLan we know many people feel nervous about starting University for the first time so we have developed Flying Start to help ease that transition. Get to know your way around campus, meet other prospective students, make some new friends. We will familiarise you with all the fantastic services UCLan has to offer and show you what other opportunities are available to you while you study. In short we will help you prepare for starting in September!
UCLan offers a range of support and services to help all students, but especially students who may need a little extra assistance, because they are from care or estranged from their parents. We understand that at different stages of your university life you may need different types of support and advice, or none, depending on your own individual needs, and would tailor the support to suit you.
