From academic help to dealing with personal difficulties our range of services from our Student Support Hubs will provide you with the help you need throughout your time at UCLan and beyond. Whatever the issue, our Hubs below are there with information and contacts regarding the support or facilities you require.
Our acclaimed one-stop Student Information Centre is where students can seek help on a range of queries. We provide help on all aspects of University life, via face-to-face, via email, via our website or through our Twitter and Facebook pages.
Students can access WISER and various other resources such as Lynda.com to learn how to study more effectively and communicate at an advanced and professional level. We offer 1-to-1 support, interactive workshops and online study advice so that students can reach their full potential and achieve the grades they deserve.
The staff at the University’s Medical Centre are able to provide students with a caring and confidential service on a wide range of medical matters. The Medical Centre is available to help whether you are feeling ill, want family planning advice, concerned about sexual health or need information on vaccinations for a trip abroad.
Care Leavers Support
UCLan offers a range of support and services to help all students, especially if they are from care or estranged from their parents. We understand that at different stages of your university life you may need different types of support and advice depending on your own individual needs, and would tailor the support to suit you.
Six CAS Hubs conveniently located across the campus provide students with guidance and support for your course. We can signpost you to the person best qualified to deal with your query, whether that is another UCLan service, an academic member of staff or the Students’ Union.
Careers offers ongoing careers advice and guidance, resources, employability activities and employer events to support and enhance employability development throughout your degree and beyond. Along with specialist workshops to help make the most of any work experience you undertake, Careers delivers a range of modules to help make you stand out in today’s competitive market.
If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere, advice, information or personal support, you will find them at the University’s Multi-Faith Centre. The Centre exists to encourage people in the pursuit and development of their faith and to promote understanding and respect amongst members of different beliefs.
The Peer Mentoring Service is UCLan’s centralised mentoring service. We organise 1-to-1 and e-mentoring support, advice and guidance for students. Students can register for a mentor either before they arrive or when they get here.
The Welfare team offer support to students in crisis or who are facing a difficult time at present. This can include, but isn’t limited to, addiction, homelessness, sexual assault, domestic violence, finance, accommodation issues, halls and bullying. We offer practical support and can make referrals to services internal and external to UCLan.
The Counselling Service at UCLan is staffed by a team of professionally trained and experienced professionals. We offer a free, confidential service to all registered UCLan students throughout the year (except during short periods over the Christmas and Easter breaks). Whatever your difficulty you are welcome and will be treated with respect.

Our aims are to strive to remove any barriers for those with disabilities as far as possible, to ensure that we provide an inclusive environment and that we address any areas of under-representation or barriers to access, retention, satisfaction or success where they may be found.
Mental Health Support
Mental health Advisors offer short-term support and advice to students experiencing mental health difficulties. We offer assessment appointments, advice and signposting to services to best meet a student’s needs.
The Pre-School Centre
The Pre-school Centre is located in a purpose built single storey building with an enclosed outside play area. There are separate play areas where children carry out a varied range of activities in a safe, secure and caring environment. The centre offers a high quality, professionally run nursery and welcomes children from aged 6 months – 4 years and facilitates up to 90 children.
