UCLan tuition fees

The UCLan tuition fee policy is reviewed on an annual basis.

Some UCLan academic schools run courses that they charge for directly. Prospective students should visit their desired course information page for confirmation on the tuition fee.

Tuition Fee Policy 2014/15

The University’s 2014/15 Tuition Fee Policy for standard programmes (.pdf 58KB). 

The Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) will have its own tuition fee policy, details on which can be found in the Fees & Funding section here.

Tuition Fees in 2014/15

The University's Tuition Fees are reviewed each academic year. The standard tuition fee rates for the 2014/15 academic year for Home and EU students are listed below.

The University will also offer a number of courses which carry non standard fees, view details and fees for courses with non standard fees (.pdf 289KB). Some of UCLan's Academic Schools also run programmes that they charge for directly, details of the costs for those programmes can be found on the courses pages or directly from the Academic School.

Undergraduate Study

The standard tuition fees for undergraduates starting in the 2014/15 academic year are listed below:

UCLan offers a range of courses which carry non-standard fees. Information on these courses and their fees can be found here (.pdf 289KB).

Students planning to study a course affiliated to the NHS come under a different fee structure. This may include no tuition fee costs and bursary funding. More information can be found on the course pages.

Full-time year zero undergraduate students: £3900 (this fee will then raise to standard rates in all subsequent years of study)
Full-time undergraduate degree students: £9000 (this fee includes those students with deferred entry)
Full-time undergraduate degree students at the Burnley Campus: £7000
Full-time foundation degree students at the main Campus: £9000
Full-time foundation degree students at the Burnley Campus: £6000
Full-time foundation degree students at partner colleges: £6000 (£7500 - Myerscough College)
Full-time undergraduate sandwich year out: £680
Full-time pre-£9000 undergraduate students*: £3465
Part-time modular continuing 2013/14 undergraduate students and new students: £600 per module
Part-time modular continuing 2012/13  undergraduate students**: £525 per module
Part-time modular continuing 2011/12 undergraduate students**: £440 per module
Part-time modular continuing pre 2011/12 undergraduate students**: £340 per module

* Continuing full time pre £9000 undergraduates students are those who are on programmes started before 12/13 intake who have not had a break in study or changed mode of attendance.

** Continuing part-time students are those who have not had a break in study or change of mode since beginning the same programme.

Postgraduate Study

The University will charge the following standard tuition fee rates to all Home and EU students in 2014/15:

Full-time postgraduate taught: £5000
Full-time postgraduate research: £3996 per year
Part-time modular postgraduate students: £525 per module
Part-time modular continuing pre 2011/12 postgraduate students*: £420 per module
Part-time postgraduate research: £2000 per year

Some Postgraduate courses will have non-standard fees, details of these courses and their fees can be found above.

*Continuing students are students who in 2013/14 will be enrolling on exactly the same mode of studyon exactly the same programme as they were studying pre 2011/12 academic year. Any student who has a break in study is not classed as continuing. Any queries should be referred to the tuition fee team.

The tuition fees for International students starting in the 2014/15 academic year are listed below.

International Scholarships and Bursaries

*If your programme is based within these Schools it is classed as being lab-based for tuition fee purposes.

 

Students with Sponsors

Any student who is sponsored, either in full or part for their tuition fees must submit a formal letter from their sponsor in each academic year of study. This letter should outline the level of sponsorship, have a full invoice address and be submitted directly to the tuition fee team.

The letter can be scanned and emailed as an attachment to: tuitionfeeteam@uclan.ac.uk  posted to: The Tuition Fee Team, Foster Building, UCLan, Preston, PR1 2HE, or handed into The <i>, Foster Building.

Any student who does not submit a sponsor letter will receive an invoice directly. This does not apply to students with support from Student Finance England. If a sponsor fails to pay in full or part the outstanding balance will be invoiced directly to the student.

Tuition Fee Reductions For Postgraduate Home and EU Taught Students 2013/14.

The University will offer a number of tuition fee reductions for eligible postgraduate students in the 2013/14 academic year:

  • UCLan award holders studying full-time non-research programmes, beginning in 2013/14 and paying a standard or higher tuition fee are eligible for a £1000 discount.
  • A 20% discount on tuition fees is available to UCLan award holders studying part-time in 2013/14.

Please note postgraduate research students are only entitled to apply for the 20% part time reduction, and no reductions are available for students studying in the School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education.
