Hello and welcome to Flying Start!

The Flying Start Project is here to help our students be fully prepared for life at UCLan – and it’s FREE! We run a number of events over the summer, which include both ‘residential’ courses and ‘non-residential’ courses.

Our courses offer a range of sessions, which cover undergraduate study skills, familiarisation with the campus and city centre, time and budget management, as well as introducing you to the University's support systems. We also offer a full social programme on the ‘residential’ courses, for Flying Start students who opt to remain on campus in the evenings. For these students, accommodation in Halls of Residence is provided free of charge for two nights, and meals are also provided through University catering using their SmartCard system. Non-residential students are offered the same range of sessions, and get their lunch included free of charge.

On this site, you will find dates for our Summer 2010 events, an introduction to the people who work on them, a frequently asked questions section and useful links and contact numbers.

We hope to see you soon,

The Flying Start Team
