Hello and welcome to Flying Start!
The Flying Start Project is here to help our students be fully prepared for life at UCLan – and it’s FREE!
We run a number of events over the summer, which include both ‘residential’ courses and ‘non-residential’ courses.
Our courses offer a range of sessions, which cover undergraduate study skills, familiarisation with the campus and city centre, time and budget management, as well as introducing you to the University's support systems and, of course, the chance to make lots of new friends!
On the ‘residential’ courses we offer an evening 'social programme' (including a free barbecue on one evening) for Flying Start students who opt to remain on campus. Our 'residential' events also include accommodation in Halls of Residence, which is provided free of charge for two nights, as well as meals in the refectory.
Students who choose to attend a 'non-residential' course are offered the same range of sessions - but accommodation is not provided - however, they do get their lunch included free of charge each day!

On this site, you will find dates for our Summer 2012 events, an introduction to some of the people who work with us, a frequently asked questions section and useful links and contact numbers.
We hope to see you soon!
