Welcome to the Mental Health Advisors Service

The Mental Health Advisors Service at UCLan is staffed by a team of professionally trained and experienced practitioners. We offer a free, confidential service to all registered UCLan students which is open throughout the year. We offer assessment appointments, advice and signposting to services to best meet a student’s needs.
Students can get help from a Mental Health Advisor for a variety of difficulties including:

 

Requesting an Appointment with a Mental Health Advisor

Our team of Mental Health Advisors are available throughout the year. An appointment to see a Mental Health Advisor can be requested in the following ways:

  • By coming to Student Support & Wellbeing reception in Foster Building 119
  • By telephone – 01772 894190
  • By email – mentalhealth@uclan.ac.uk 

Appointments are available between: 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. We aim to offer an appointment time that is best for you, and can offer telephone appointments if this is more convenient than face to face appointments. If you need an urgent appointment it is possible to arrange a duty appointment, which are bookable on the day. To book a duty appointment please ring 01772 894190, preferably in the morning on the day that you would like to attend.

Non-attendance

In the event of you not being able to attend an appointment please cancel or re-schedule in advance, so that another student can be offered that appointment.

Emergency Information

The Mental Health Advisors offer daily duty appointments to help avoid crisis and effectively signpost and advise students to best meet their needs. To book an appointment please ring Student Support and Wellbeing on 01772 894190.
If you need to talk to someone immediately and Student Support & Wellbeing is closed you can speak to the universities’ security staff who are highly trained and supportive, they are often able to help students and put them you in touch with appropriate support services. They can be contacted on 01772 892068.
