Distance Learning Services
What Services am I entitled to?
You have access to the same services as on-campus students including:
- Access to electronic resources, including e-journals and e-books
- Resources for your Subject guides to help access journals and books, etc. online
- Details of using other libraries and information services (perhaps closer to home)
- Help getting you started from the Library Focus Student Help team
- Access to IT help and advice from Customer Support & Technical Services
Extra services to you as a distance learner:
• Postal book loans (UK & Ireland only)
• Journal article supply
However, some services are restricted to students living in the UK and Ireland - for example, postal book loans and some electronic resources (because of licensing restrictions).
How do I access these services?
You are, of course, very welcome to visit the library in person, but if you can’t many of our services are available using email or the telephone. Further details of our services are available from these web pages.
- To enquire about a book or journal request, please contact the Distance Learning /Document Supply Team.
- Access to e-resources - from the database pages follow the off-campus links - it is not necessary to use the Remote Access service (see below) for the majority of these resources.
- If you can't find the information you need about e-resources, or any other services provided by Learning & Information Services, please contact Customer Support & Technical Services.
What else have you got?
Remote Access
The remote access services allow you to access your UCLan network account, the library's electronic resources and some core software applications from your own computer as if you were on-campus.
