Wainwright Collection

Special collections

Donated to the University by the Wainwright Conservative Club in Blackpool, the collection comprises largely late Victorian texts covering a range of topics related to British and Irish political history.

The collection is particularly strong in terms of material on Irish and Ulster Unionism, especially on debates regarding Home Rule in the last two decades of the nineteenth century, and contains many important works from a Unionist perspective. The collection also contains a small number of Irish nationalist works, classic political studies, pamphlets and memoirs in addition to works on land-holding, labour relations, free trade and imperialism.

Most items in the Wainwright Collection are listed in Library Search. Any items which have been digitised are available through the University Repository.
