Nicky is research active within the area of computing. She is a member of the Innovative Computing Education Research Group and the HCI and Information Systems Research Group

Full Profile

Nicky is currently a Senior Lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire, and has been here since 1999. She is module leader for several undergraduate modules, which lead to professional accreditation of the British Computer Society. Additionally, she is a founder member of the 4 Week Challenge (4WC) in computing, a block module designed to enhance the curriculum and help students engage with the subject, tackling the feeling of isolation that affects retention figures at many institutions.

Nicky is the Placements Manager for the School (Computing) and is responsible for students who are on a sandwich year out in industry.

She is also Course Leader for first year computing.

As a university review panel member,she is involved with validations and periodic reviews in the University and its partner colleges.

Nicky is an external examiner for Sheffield Hallam University.
