Full Profile

Nicky is a Principal Lecturer and Academic Lead for Business Development for the School of Physical Sciences and Computing.

Nicky looks after a lot of the external facing activity for the School, for example, recruitment, admissions, placements, apprenticeships, international activity and business liaisons.

The School incorporates Computing, Mathematics, Physics, Astrophysics and Chemistry.

Her background is in Computer Science and she also has qualifications in Education and in Management.

My current research interests are based around pedagogy and the use of social media. I’m also interested in gaming and perceptions of gaming in society.

Nicky is a STEM Ambassador and is currently a designated UCLan Engagement Catalyst award holder. She works towards trying to engage more young people with Computer Science, and more specifically, girls. Her aim is to see an increase in the number of girls studying computing, and she works towards trying to address the gender stereotypes around professions in the discipline.
