Nick is the Academic Lead for Sport, Physical Education and The Outdoors, having previously been the Course Leader for Sport Studies. As well as Academic Lead, Nick has also is currently Course Leader of the new Sport and Physical Education course. Nick has a background in Physical Education having worked for 10 years in the secondary state and independent sector before joining the University of Central Lancashire in 2006. His roles in teaching included Head of Physical Education and Boarding Housemaster and externally he was an A-Level Physical Education examiner for two examination boards throughout that time. 

Full Profile

Nick has taught a variety of modules across a variety of programmes since joining the University of Central Lancashire. As well as leading the Sport and Physical Education course, Nick overlooks the Physical Education and Synoptic strand specifically. He has created many work placement opportunities for the students in a variety of educational environments and has also created many international links to increase student experience within the course. The creation of strong links in China, the USA and France have led to students undertaking partnership work with the University of Paris, Cretail, North Carolina State University and schools in the Qingdao region of China.

Projects

  • Research Projects with North Carolina State and Temple University, USA regarding Mega Sporting Events.
  • Organising Student Conferences between University of Paris, Cretail and UCLAN students
  • Supporting Healthy Schools Project

Teaching Activities

  • Physical Education at all undergraduate and postgraduate levels. A variety of work placement modules, consultancy at undergraduate and post graduate levels.
  • Synoptic lead across undergraduate course.
