Mark Porter BSc(Hons), MSc, PGCertLTHE. Senior lecturer in Web Design and Development
Mark is a graduate of the University of Warwick (BSc Biochemistry) and gained both his MSc in Multimedia Computing and PGCertLTHE at UCLan as well as being a HEA (Higher Education Academy) member since 2001. Previous work experience includes directorships in the SME manufacturing industry sector, freelance web development and a learning technologist before becoming a full time academic.
He specialises in Web Design and Development to web standards, including ecommerce and responsive applications. Active in the web industry both locally, regionally and nationally working with employers to create a variety of employment opportunities and internships for students, in addition to keeping up with industry practice. He is also involved with regional digital skills development projects such as Digital Lancashire, Creative Lancashire and Manchester digital.
An active Knowledge transfer practitioner, Mark has delivered several successful innovation voucher projects and has been also involved in delivering a KTP as part of a multidisciplinary team. His research interests are mobile HTML5 application, web enabled sensor technology, real-time web communication applications and wearable tech. He is a member of the Diffusion undergraduate research publication editorial team and involved in organising and leading undergraduate international travel bursary projects
Currently involved in Knowledge Transfer activities such as Innovation vouchers and KT Partnerships.
