I am currently a Lecturer and the Course leader for BA (Hons) Animation within the School of Journalism, Media & Performance at UCLan. I Hold an M.A. in Digital Games. I’ve taught across a range of subject with in my 10 years of teaching in higher education and continue to practise in animation and design.

Full Profile

My name is Mario Kkounnous and I am currently a full time Lecturer and course leader for BA (Hons) Animation as well as an experienced freelance animator, compositor, 3d artist and conceptual designer. I have worked within the creative industry for 20 years and have been involved in projects aimed towards the BBC to develop pilot episodes for clients. In addition I have designed and sculpted figurines for hobby based companies and worked on motion graphics projects with local companies.

For the past ten years I’ve taught across a wide range of subjects within design and media and across levels 4 – 7. Recently the course was accredited by JAMES, a consortium of music, entertainment and media industry collaborating in the support of higher education. I delivered a course to teach professional animators, producers and film directors on using Celaction 2D as part of the university’s external engagement projects and in affiliation with Creative Skillset.

I hold a Masters in Art for Digital Games, Liverpool John Moores University 2005. I have a Bacholers degree in Industrial Design, University of Central Lancashire, 2002.

I have an extensive range of skills and software knowledge including 3D Studio Max, Maya, Celaction, Photoshop, After Effects, Premier, Animate CC and Dragonframe.

Currently I am working with a charity called Chapter 1 in developing a series of animated films to support the teaching and support for children suffering of grievance from the process of parent’s divorce or separation.

Teach across all levels and responsible for the management and marketing of the BA (Hons) Animation course, which includes partnerships across the world.
