Full Profile

Joanne has been a registered adult nurse for over 25 years completing her registered nurse education at South Manchester School of Nursing. She has previously had extensive experience of working in acute adult services and continues to maintain close links with organisations and trusts. Joanne’s nursing practice has been within both the primary and secondary care arenas encompassing over 20 years in adult medicine managing the care of respiratory patients with added specialities of rheumatology and haematology.

Joanne has held a full time academic position at the University of Central Lancashire or the past 1-year. She entered into nurse education initially to share her healthcare experience with pre registration nursing entrants whilst promoting the need to advance nursing practice and maintain a philosophy of compassion and caring. In recent years her educational focus has been centred on inter-professional working, service improvement and innovation.

Joanne’s professional interests are centred on the issues of clinical competence and inter-professional collaboration. Doctoral studies at Cardiff University explore the impact of outcomes driven healthcare on compassionate care provision.
