Before working for UCLan, Hilary Chadwick worked as a solicitor both in London and in Preston specialising in Family Law. Since joining UCLan in 2001 she has taught across a number of levels from Foundation to Postgraduate.
Hilary Chadwick joined Lancashire Law School in September 2001. Prior to that date she had been employed as a solicitor specialising in the area of private family law. After leaving private practice Hilary taught on the ILEX course at Blackburn College for 3 years covering subjects in both stage 1 and stage 2 of training. Once at Uclan Hilary has specialised in teaching on the Legal Practice Course particularly Litigation, Family Law and Solicitors Accounts. She has been the course leader for the Foundations Programme since it was validated in 2008. In 2010/11 she was part of the team that won the Vice Chancellors Award for Excellence in teaching and Learning.
In February/March Hilary was invited to present a seminar on Family Mediation to the Judiciary from across the North West, Magistrates and CAFCASS.
More recently Hilary has taken on the role of marketing and schools and college liaison within the Law School, organising the Law School Open day and Applicant Day events and developing links with schools and colleges across the north west region.
In December 2014 Hilary organised the inaugural Child Law Conference held in conjunction with pan Lancashire Social Services, and HMCTS. This event attracted senior regional and national Judges including the President of the Family Division, Sir James Munby. She is currently organising the second conference which is due to be held on Monday 14th December 2015.
