I am a qualified Critical Care Sister, with 10years post registration experience. I am a UCLan graduate with Advanced Certificates in both High Dependency nursing and Intensive Care Nursing.
I have also been involved in Clinical Improvement, leading change, innovation and driving forward the importance of continuous improvement within a local NHS Trust.
I am currently on a 12month secondment from one of the local NHS Trusts and started at the end of August 2016 leaving a Clinical Improvement Lead Nurse post. As a UCLan Graduate, I have been involved with the university on and off for over 10 year gaining both pre and post registration qualifications.
My area of expertise lies directly within the HDU and ICU setting, where I have been advantageous in acquiring a high level of clinical knowledge and skill set, nursing patients with a wide variety of acute medical and surgical conditions. Through my time as a Sister within the ICU, I attained ALS with instructor potential and mentored both student nurses and newly qualified staff. I maintain clinical competency by holding an additional contract at Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre NHS Trusts.
I teach on a variety of pre-registration and post-registration courses including Operating Department Practice, Paramedic Practice, Adult Nursing students and Critical Care Courses.
My main areas of interest include critical care, the physical and psychological effects on patients of being in an Intensive care environment, leadership, clinical improvement and quality.
