Full Profile

After gaining a 1st class honours degree from Lancaster University in electronic & electrical engineering, and a MSc in High Frequency engineering from the University of Leeds, I spent time in industry working in such areas as the design of mobile phone base stations. In 2003 I returned to the Engineering department at Lancaster to study for a Ph.D in engineering physics. On completion of my Ph.D I taught electrical and electronic engineering, at a private college in Cumbria, before joining the Renewable Energy group at UCLan in 2011.

Research interests include high frequency engineering (radio up to microwave frequencies), and renewable energy technologies.
