Tim Holder joined the Institute of Coaching and Performance in November 2014 as a Senior Lecturer in Coaching and Performance. He is a HCPC Registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist, British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist, a Chartered Scientist and a British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist. Tim is also a Fellow of BASES.

Tim is research active in the Institute of Coaching and Performance.

Full Profile

Tim completed his PhD on Sources of information in the acquisition and organisation of interceptive actions in 1998 through University of Southampton. He has worked as a senior lecturer and reader for the last 18 years at a number of academic institutions in England and has been programme co-ordinator for undergraduate programmes of study in Sports Coaching Science, Sport, Health and Exercise Science and postgraduate programmes in Applied Sport Psychology.

He has worked with a number of national governing bodies of sport over the last 26 years providing psychological support to performers and coaches at the elite level. These include Table Tennis, Amateur Boxing, Swimming, Sailing and Synchronised Swimming in addition to a range of individual performers across varied individual and team sports. He has worked as a sport psychologist at two Olympic Games and numerous World and European Championships.

His research interests include the use of observations in applied practice, coaching and skill acquisition.
